Church security is important

For some leaders, church security is not a new subject. Every church where I have been a member in the last 30 years has handled security issues and initiated clear church security policies. Many churches have been aware of the potential problems that emerge from the lack of security training and policies. The greatest problem was convincing church members this issue was important. Good church people can’t imagine anyone would molest their children or shoot worshipers during a service.

That’s no longer the case. Frequent news reports of unthinkable church tragedies cannot be ignored. Man’s sin nature is very ugly. It does not pass over God’s faithful children inside the church building. Every church of every size is a target.
This week we posted a very helpful column by guest writer, Denise George. We hope this will be a valuable resource for your church family. In addition, the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, some local associations and LifeWay Resources offer materials to guide your church through the process of developing church security policies.
