Lake Lure Baptist Church, Lake Lure, NC is prayerfully seeking a full-time Pastor of Family Ministries.  

LLBC is a growing, mission minded family that exists for the glory of God. We affirm a conservative theology, enjoy a blended worship style and are committed to expository preaching and teaching of the inerrant Word of God.   LLBC affirms the Baptist Faith & Message 2000,  is affiliated to the SBC, BSCNC and the Green River Baptist Association.  

We are seeking a servant-leader who will support the vision of the church and edify the Body.  He will give pastoral leadership in developing, administering, and overseeing the Youth, Children’s, and Sunday School ministries.

Qualifications include: meeting the pastoral qualifications of 1Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9, a deep love for Christ and His Word, a heart of children, youth and the family as a whole, exhibits a a personal growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, a healthy family life, a passion for evangelism, discipleship and the fostering of mentoring relationships, a commitment to expository teaching, a strong Biblical/theological background, self motivated leader who is able to work in a team, possession of relational skills with kids, students and their parents. Principal Function: The Pastor of Family Ministries will serve as a staff member of  Lake Lure Baptist Church and will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the spiritual needs of students, youth, children and their families. He will be responsible for, and give unique attention to administering, developing the Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry and Sunday School.   Position Type:        Full Time Staff    

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  The Pastor of Family Ministries must:
  • possess a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ evidenced through a lifestyle of daily surrender to His lordship
  • demonstrate a yielded life of obedience to Christ, as evidenced in meeting the qualifications of 1Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
  • demonstrate a personal sense of calling from God and commitment to local church ministry
  • have evidence of a spiritually balanced life (prayer, Bible study, rest, worship, financial stewardship)
  • align doctrinally with “The Baptist Faith and Message 2000;” LLBC Statement of Faith, doctrinal positions, mission, and core values.
  • (if applicable) have a spouse who is fully supportive of ministry work and is, herself, a complement to his ministry and service
  • maintain biblical priorities in your home and family
  • demonstrate evidence that he possesses the spiritual gifts relevant to ministry
  • possess a teachable spirit and a desire to grow in the work of the ministry
  • possess great people skills and a commitment to staff teamwork and pastoral cooperation
  • possess fruitful, past-experience in ministry (which includes positive references)
  • possess education specific to or specialized in Ministry/Biblical training
  • possess a passion for fulfilling the Great Commission through missions
  • have a yearning to see the lost saved, and believers discipled in the Word
  • have a passion for expositional teaching and preaching of the Word of God
  • must be committed to investing in volunteers and developing leaders
  • possess a desire to build appropriate and healthy relationships with children, youth and their families as a whole
  • submit to appropriate biblical authority
  • communicate clearly and effectively
Essentials in Conduct   The Pastor of family ministries must:
  • consistently demonstrate a lifestyle of honesty, integrity and hold confidentiality in high regard
  • be trustworthy and consistently protect the unity and integrity of the church at all costs
  • possess and demonstrate a strong work ethic that leads to spiritual growth and transformation
  • Support and promote a two-deep leading/counseling/teaching environment where at no time will a leader and student engage in leading/counseling/teaching activities without another adult/leader present.
    Primary Responsibilities  
  1. Pastoral Ministry
  • Assist Senior Pastor as needed with congregational visitation.
  • Preach in absence of the Senior Pastor as needed and at the Senior Pastor’s discretion.
  • Be available to assist Senior Pastor in any pastoral duties that he may assign.

  1. Children’s Ministry: (Birth through 5th Grade)
To cast vision, administrate, give leadership and oversee all aspects of the Children’s Ministry. This would include:
  • the recruiting, training, equipping, and supervising of leaders and volunteers.
  • In close cooperation with senior pastor, prayerful selection, and implementation of Biblical curriculum
  • Yearly event planning and implementation for missions, outreach, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, worship, and prayer.
  • Yearly Budget development and oversight.
 
  1. Youth Ministry (6th grade to 12th Grade)
To cast vision, administrate, give leadership and oversee all aspects of the Youth Ministry.  This would include:
  • Recruiting, training, equipping, and supervising of leaders and volunteers.
  • In close cooperation with senior pastor, prayerful selection, and implementation of Biblical curriculum
  • Yearly event planning and implementation for missions, outreach, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, worship and prayer.
  • Yearly Budget development and oversight.
  • Yearly Budget development and oversight.
 
  1. Families
To engage the families of the children and youth with the goal of establishing discipleship and mentoring relationships that would equip the family holistically to live out their faith.    
  1. Sunday School
To Cast vision, administer, give leadership, and oversee all aspects of the Sunday School ministry.  This would include:
  • Recruiting, training, equipping, and supervising of Teachers.
  • In close cooperation with senior pastor, prayerful selection, and implementation of Biblical
  • curriculum.
  • Yearly event planning and implementation for missions, outreach, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, worship, and prayer.
  • Yearly Budget development and oversight.
  Secondary Responsibilities: It is important to note that a “Job Description” can never fully list all that is required for the pastoral ministry.  Pastoral ministry is very dynamic and requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to daily circumstances and crisis that may arise.  The Pastor of Family Ministries must be sensitive to the leading of the Lord and willing to adjust and perform tasks that may seem outside of his wheelhouse. It is important for the pastor of family ministries to willingly perform other duties as assigned by the senior pastor.
