K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Trust in media falls to all time low Truth is the cornerstone of civilization. If a grocery store is not truthful, you can’t be sure the can of fruit you purchased really has fruit in it, until you open it. It may have soup in the can. In fact, the weight may not be accurate, and the price on the product may not be true. But you’ll discover the truth when you get to the check-out or when you open the can in your home. Think about how crazy everything would be if truth is not the foundational standard of life. The TV commercial you’re watching does not have to be accurate if truth is not important. No contract would be valid and no bank would be a safe place for your money. Everyone should be very concerned that the secular media seems to have abandoned truth. I wrote an editorial for this week’s print edition of the Biblical Recorder on the crisis of truth in the media. Please take time to read it on the BRnow website. A recent Gallup poll reports that a mere 8 percent of Americans trust the secular media. Is anyone really surprised? In the Ten Commandments, God said, "You shall not bear false witness." Pilate asked "What is truth?" Jesus said, "I am the truth." The Bible describes God in this way, "He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He" (Deuteronomy 32:4, NKJ). The Bible is truth. "For the word of the LORD is right, And all His work is done in truth" (Psalms 33:4, NKJ). The bottom line is this, God is the God of truth. He never lies. Satan is the god of lies. He is never truthful. Whose voice will we believe? Email me: [email protected] |
