K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Will we 'Impact Lostness'? Last week the Board of Directors (BOD) for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSC) met at Caraway Conference Center for one of three scheduled meetings for 2013. Their approval of the new strategy labeled "Impacting Lostness through Disciple-Making" made it a historic meeting. Almost three years ago the BOD approved a motion that produced a Vision Fulfillment Committee (VFC) and a series of Vision Fulfillment Forums across the state. N.C. Baptists expressed their vision for reaching our state with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Some voiced their opinions in the vision meetings. Others completed online surveys. The BOD approved the VFC report in 2011 and then gave Milton Hollifield the assignment to work with his staff to develop a strategy for implementing the vision. For almost two years the staff has prayed and labored over the VFC report. The result is described in the "Impacting Lostness" strategy. More stories that explain the vision will be published in the Recorder over the next three months. We will package all of them on the "Resources" page of BRnow.org for your convenience. I hope you will read and pray over the vision approved last week by the BOD. It is important that we work as a team to reach our state for Christ. Does your church have a Boy Scout troop? Please contact me to share how your church will respond to the new Boy Scout membership policy. I look forward to hearing from you. Email me: [email protected] |
