K. Allan Blume BR Editor | A first for BCH and SBC This week’s print edition of your Biblical Recorder is packed with interesting stories. If you subscribe to the Digital Edition, you don’t have to wait for the print copy to arrive in the mail. You can read the full PDF here and you can read previous editions also! The Baptist Children’s Homes of N.C. is taking great steps to expand ministry to hurting people across the state. Read this story about a $1 million gift that launched a brand new kind of ministry. We appreciate the great work that Michael Blackwell and the BCH staff do so faithfully. Remember, you are part of this kingdom work every day because your church gives generously to the Cooperative Program! Seth Brown interviewed the first woman parliamentarian to serve at the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting and he shares part of her story with you this week. We appreciate Amy Whitfield’s ministry at Southeastern Seminary and her willingness to use her skills in obedience to 1 Corinthians 14:40. We can’t ignore the fact that the pastor of South Carolina’s largest Baptist church was removed from his pastoral role last week. This is never good news. The fallout of a leader’s failure is always greater than we imagine. This guest column by pastor Joel Rainey provides some helpful perspective and advice. The "use of alcohol" subject has been stirred up also – and rightly so. As always, this needs to be a civil conversation, but many do not understand the pain that people like Ed Stetzer and I have experienced in the home of an alcoholic father. It isn’t pretty. It can’t be winced at or ignored. Let’s talk about it. As you read all of the news in the Biblical Recorder, don’t miss Roman Gabriel’s interview with the legendary Pat Williams, and please read the announcement about the 2016 N.C. Baptist Pastors’ Conference. Check BRnow.org for stories about racial tensions and related shootings across the country. Pray for healing!
