K. Allan Blume BR Editor | A post-Christmas exercise The post-holiday period is typically a slow news week in Baptist life. In the fields of sports and weather, there’s plenty to talk about. But among Baptists, there are no big conferences, meetings or conventions this early in the year, and most Baptist leaders are recovering from a very busy Christmas season. Bloggers are posting their lists on subjects like “20 ways to do better in 2018,” and some are stepping out with their predictions for the year. I’m tempted to publish my list, “2,018 things that will not change in 2018,” but, I hesitate for two reasons. I don’t have time to write it, and you don’t have time to read it. However, I’m sure it would be filled with Biblical values. There are enough unchanging truths in scripture to quickly populate such a list. Why don’t you start your own list of unchanging truths now? It’s likely be a very helpful, post-Christmas exercise, even if it is a long one! Let me know when you get to number 2,018. At the top of my list is Moses’ description of God in Psalm 90:2, “Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” God is God, and He always will be God. Nothing about that will change, even though my limited mind cannot grasp it. I pray that 2018 will be an outstanding year for you! Thank you for reading the Biblical Recorder. People need to know!
