K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Pray for summer ministries This week most people seem to be focusing on their Independence Day break and personal vacations. It’s even a slow week for news, so there’s not much to talk about today. But it is a good time to call attention to our need to pray for summer outreach ministries in our churches. Vacation Bible School, summer mission trips and other special ministry projects are on the agenda for many of us. Each event, and the people serving in them, needs to be covered in prayer. Nothing done in the energy of the flesh is sufficient for eternal, kingdom results. So, pray for each other. Pray for other churches – not just the one where you are a member. As you pray, will you pray for The WORD Conference for Asian American church leaders in our state? The event is Friday evening through Saturday afternoon (July 7-8) at Caraway Conference Center. This is an important gathering for a growing segment of our Baptist family. My good friend, Paul Kim, will be one of the speakers. Kim is a former IMB trustee. He recently retired as the pastor of a strong Korean church in Boston, Mass. and now devotes his life to many levels of Asian ministry across the Southern Baptist Convention. Thank you for praying for these Asian leaders! Have a great week! Thank you for allowing the Biblical Recorder team to serve you and your church! People need to know! |
