K. Allan Blume BR Editor | They are at our doorstep! The two lead stories in this e-newsletter are very important to the spread of the gospel in North Carolina. For decades Southern Baptists have been doing some outstanding mission work overseas. We have been praying fervently, giving generously and sending many gifted, God-called missionaries to the unreached nations of the world. Yet, for all we have done, it has only been a drop in the bucket when measured against the immense lostness of the world. So our heavenly Father has been working to make the work easier for us. He has been moving the nations into our neighborhoods by the thousands. They are here and we must proclaim the good news to them. This story about a new digital prayer map is a great place to start. With this new tool you will be able to discover unreached people groups from other nations that now live in North Carolina. You can learn about the group and read about some ways to pray for them. It’s easy. It’s powerful. It’s the beginning of Great Commission missions. The second story is about a conference that was birthed in the heart of Chuck Register and a handful of other Great Commission leaders after last summer’s large Send conference in Nashville, Tenn. Please read this and learn about a groundbreaking event this August in Brentwood, Tenn. There is nothing to compare with this "Reaching the Nations in North America" conference. The citizens of North Carolina are under assault by some people who are very uninformed and extremely misguided. Vicious attacks of intimidation have been launched against our governor and members of the General Assembly. The level of hatred coming from these misguided people is unprecedented. We must respond with prayer and a graceful, courageous stand for eternal truth. Pray for our elected leaders. Pray for those who oppose you. Jesus taught us in Matthew 5:44 to love our enemies and pray for them. As an expression of our public stand, plan to attend the important rally on the Capitol lawn in Raleigh this Monday, April 25. This is the day the legislature returns to Raleigh to open their next session. You can be sure they will be met by mounds of opposing protestors. Come to the Capitol to let them here your voice of support. It was my honor and joy to preach the word for pastor Jake Thornhill last Sunday at Life Community Church in Jamestown. What an outstanding church and awesome time of worship! Churches like this are impacting lostness in North Carolina. It’s great to be on the same team! |
