Luter, Blackwell and Graham Last week’s annual meeting of N.C. Baptists is still overflowing with news. Pastors will demonstrate insightful wisdom by informing their congregation about the good things the Biblical Recorder is reporting from the meeting. SBC President Fred Luter unloaded a powerful challenge on us, Milton Hollifield also shared a passionate vision and M.O. Owens, one of the oldest preachers in N.C., was honored. Point your friends and fellow church members to the printed Biblical Recorder, the digital edition of the Recorder and the website. People need to know! Michael Blackwell, president of the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina (BCH), is incapable of giving a bad report to the messengers. As in previous years, I was amazed and deeply moved by his report. If he is assigned five minutes or 15 minutes, the stories from this powerful, life-changing ministry always bless us and inspire confidence that every dollar they receive is used for God’s glory. This is the week of prayer for the annual offering for BCH. I hope you are praying. When you go to worship services at your church this week, add a generous gift above God’s tithe to support BCH. This monetary gift will be a wise investment for the Kingdom! Since the day Billy Graham celebrated his birthday on Nov. 7, I have been interviewing pastors and Graham staff who were present for the party in order to get a sense of the real meaning of the event. Secular media reported it as a birthday party, but the gathering was much more significant! Read the story to learn what Billy Graham wanted to accomplish. Visit us on Facebook and "like" us!
