K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Disciple-making in North Carolina Earlier this week the board of directors for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSC) gathered at Caraway Conference Center for two days to transact the business of N.C. Baptists between the big annual meetings each November. This was one of their three meetings for 2018 – the other two will be in late May and late September. Much of their work focuses on disciple-making in our state. These meetings are both informative and inspirational. And, of course, when Baptists get together, there’s a lot of great fellowship and plenty of food. The Biblical Recorder will be reporting the results of the board meeting on our website and in next week’s print edition, giving our audience a snapshot on the progress of the cooperative mission work of our churches. Watch for that information. But, I want to share with you that the two primary officers were re-elected for another term. Marc Francis, pastor of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Durham was re-elected as president of the board of directors and John Mark Harrison, pastor of Apex Baptist Church, was elected for another term as vice president. Both of these men are excellent leaders who served us well last year. We are confident they will skillfully lead us through 2018. Pray for them and for all of the board members who represent you, your church and your association. One of the most important BSC events each year is the Disciple-making Conference. In his most recent editorial, Milton Hollifield, executive director-treasurer of BSC, underscored the value of this conference. Pray for the outreach ministries that are touching the lives of Super Bowl athletes this week in Minneapolis. There is the potential that athletes, fans and media personnel will meet Jesus as their Savior as they hear the gospel and respond. Roman Gabriel III, our sports correspondent, is reporting live from Super Bowl 52. I hope this Sunday will be a great day in your church.
