K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Pray for our Baptist Children's Homes This is the week of prayer for our Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina (BCH). No state and no denomination in the nation has a stronger, more thorough or more effective ministry to children than North Carolina’s BCH. We are immensely blessed. But it’s not enough to be proud of this ministry. There’s no time to rest on our laurels. We must give generously and pray consistently for God’s continued hand of blessing on BCH. They face many challenges. Imagine the struggles children and families deal with every day – these are the challenges of BCH. The hope and healing they bring is immeasurable! Pray every day this week (and every week) for Dr. Michael Blackwell and his outstanding staff. Then reach deep in your pockets and give a special gift of thanks to BCH this week. Visit their website to learn more. In this week’s editorial I am opening up a discussion on the value of Cooperative Program support for missions and missionaries. Please take time to read my reflections on a conversation with a faithful Biblical Recorder reader. I appreciate "George’s" perspective and hope it will initiate a lot of civil, discerning discussion on ways to make CP more effective. Please email your thoughts to me or post them in the comment section at the end of the editorial. Thank you for engaging in this important conversation. Seth Brown, BR's content editor, wrote a story about my report to the messengers at the annual meeting of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina a few weeks ago. I hope you will hear my heart and know that the Biblical Recorder has a mission to encourage and strengthen every Christian in your church family. We believe we can help you and your congregation fulfill the Great Commission. I hope you will get your people to subscribe – print, or digital, or both! An easy, free way to engage your people with the ministry of the Biblical Recorder is to ask everyone with an email to sign up for this BRweekly e-newsletter. That’s easy! And the benefits are out of this world! Thank you for allowing us to serve you. Last Sunday I had the privilege to preach the Word at Pitts Baptist Church in Concord, where Scott Davis is pastor. They blessed me and Pam with powerful worship and encouraging fellowship. N.C. Baptists have some really great churches and this is one of them! To God be the glory. This week's Biblical Recorder and BRnow.org are packed with a lot of great news because people need to know! People need to know!
