K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Florence bearing down on N.C. Baptists on Mission is prepared to serve many needs of people whose homes, businesses and lives have felt the impact of natural disasters like Hurricane Florence. They are ready to manage disaster relief operations from their base in Cary, even if power outages hit the Raleigh area. We posted two stories Tuesday afternoon about their work and Jack Frazier, their new disaster relief coordinator. Pray for the many men, women and students who will serve sacrificially in this ministry. Pray for Richard Brunson and the skilled staff of Baptists on Mission as they give tireless leadership to volunteers and reach out to church leaders in storm-damaged regions of the state. Mandatory evacuations along coastal regions are forcing churches to close and cancel all activities this week, including Sunday services. Their church family will be scattered for a period of time and return to unknown damage. Pray for these brothers and sisters! Pray for the pastors of these churches who will likely have damage to their own homes, yet they will minister faithfully to their flock. In anticipation of the storm’s impact, the Baptist building in Cary will be closed Thursday and Friday. The Biblical Recorder office will close as necessary this week, but we will do our best to get next week’s print edition of the Recorder ready for press. Last Sunday, I preached at Sulphur Springs Baptist in Hiddenite as the church celebrated their 151st homecoming. Pastor Mitch King is leading this outstanding fellowship of believers to impact lostness in their community. I really enjoyed being with these sweet brothers and sisters, and it was a privilege to preach in the town where my grandmother was born 112 years ago. God is good! I’m praying for our Baptist family and the people that God called us to love in the name of Jesus. People need to know!
