K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Prayer conferences on target Chris Schofield has a strong desire to see the kind of prayer that leads to a mighty movement of God in our personal lives and in churches across our land. Schofield is director of the office of prayer for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. He has prepared a series of rich prayer conferences across the state with outstanding speakers. I attended one of those meetings last weekend at Corinth Baptist Church in Elizabeth City, where David Turner is pastor. Tom and Mel Blackaby, sons of Henry Blackaby, were the keynote speakers. They said some things that have been on my heart for a long time, so I condensed my thoughts and wrote them in this week’s editorial in the Biblical Recorder. There is so much more that I could say, and I’m sure many others could insert additional insights. But, I hope God will use these words as a catalyst for a movement of prayer in our lives Identify the prayer conference that works for your schedule and location, and plan to attend. You will be encouraged. Pastors, I know you are overwhelmed with ministry challenges and your time is very valuable. But don’t forget to take time to be fed by godly leaders who know your heart. Find a prayer conference at this website. There is no cost for these events. Someone said, "Craziness is flying all around us!" They were talking about all of the troubling headlines: Ferguson, immigration crisis, Gaza, ISIS, Ebola, earthquakes, Obama’s golf games, the robbery of religious liberties, the unsettled IRS scandal, the unresolved Benghazi killings, ... while a culture of homosexuality is forcefully imposed on free Americans, calling for the redefinition of marriage that has been the standard for thousands of years. They were troubled that businesses like Starbucks, Macy’s, Target, Chase Bank and Radio Shack are using their capital to preach their own brand of social re-engineering. Yes, there is much to be troubled about. It should drive us to greater heights of involvement and deeper depths of prayer, while investing more confidence in the truth of God’s Word. Stay the course! Preach the Word! Pray fervently! Serve humbly! "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful" Hebrews 10:23. Stay informed!
