![]() ![]() Seth Brown BR Content Editor | Honor where it's due The annual day dedicated to mothers is fast approaching (May 13), but I pray we can slow our thoughts long enough to reflect on the honor due to those ladies in our lives whose maternal, unmatched love shapes us in significant ways. Mother's Day brings with it a swell of emotion for most people, in one way or another. Some sons and daughters spend precious moments with their mothers, showing thanks and sharing gifts. Others recall sweet moments long passed as they mourn a loss. Still more feel the sting of broken families or infertility. A column recently featured at BRnow.org calls our attention to one group on Mother's Day that I pray we can all celebrate together – our spiritual mothers. When we place faith in Christ and commit ourselves to His church, we become "members of the household of God," the Apostle Paul says in Ephesians 2:19. That means we inherit a global and godly family, full of brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers. Who are the spiritual mothers in your life? Read Autumn Wall's column for practical tips on how you can bless those special ladies this Sunday. Another fast approaching yearly event is the Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting. Keep an eye out for the next print issue of the Biblical Recorder. It will be overflowing with useful information about the annual meeting and related events. If you are going to the June 12-13 gathering in Dallas, be sure to take a copy with you. Email Liz Tablazon ([email protected]) if you would like extra copies of this unique, print edition of the Biblical Recorder. As you think about the SBC annual meeting, keep our missions and ministries in your prayers. The International Mission Board and the SBC Executive Committee currently have search teams working to find top-level leaders. And in recent news, the trustee board of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is set to meet May 22 in a special session to discuss controversial issues surrounding the school's president, Paige Patterson. Read the latest developments here. In a day of uncertainty, we can call on the One who holds all authority, who never changes and whose promise is certain – "to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen" (Romans 16:27).
