K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Older pastors in majority This week we posted this story by Seth Brown that opens the door for some important discussions about the large number of older pastors and the small number of younger pastors. Obviously, we need pastors from all age groups, but Pastor Clay Smith of First Baptist Church in Matthews has some helpful insights for our consideration. I hope this sparks some discussions about how we can equip and encourage younger pastors. Let’s talk about it! My long-time friend, Dale Robertson, is now a record-breaking Baptist leader! Dale has held the office of treasurer of the North Carolina Baptist Pastor’s Conference for 25 years. As he closes his time of service in this role, we asked him to reflect on the work he has done and the relationships he built. Dianna Cagle posted this story so you can enjoy Robertson’s perspective and congratulate him for both his endurance and accomplishments. Thank you Dale! The big week is only a few days away. In the three days of November 5-7, N.C. Baptists will elect Pastor’s Conference officers and Baptist State Convention officers. We will conduct some important Great Commission business as we vote on resolutions, budgets, leaders and strategies. We will worship together, hear some great preaching and pray together. I hope to see you in Greensboro next week. Please visit the Biblical Recorder’s booth in the exhibit hall and register for some great prizes, beginning with an outstanding Olive Tree Bible Software package.
