K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Preaching across the state Saturday morning it was my privilege to speak to the messengers of the Stone Mountain Baptist Association who gathered at Benham Baptist Church in Elkin. As you would expect, these brothers and sisters in the northern mountain region of the state were very gracious, and they are very interested in the Biblical Recorder. I appreciate the ministry of Julius Blevins, the director of missions. We welcome many of these new friends to their first edition of the BRweekly. Saturday night I spoke to some pastors in Johnston County who attended a pastor appreciation pig-pickin’ at First Baptist Church in Clayton. This was sponsored by the local Gideon camp. The ministry of Gideons International is powerful because their only tool is the Bible, God’s Word. I’m grateful for the worldwide work of these men and their wives. Billions have a copy of the Bible for the first time because the Gideons are faithful. Millions now follow Christ. I hope your church supports this great ministry of worldwide Bible distribution. Sunday morning I preached God’s Word to our brothers and sisters at Immanuel Baptist Church in Clinton. The church celebrated 60 years of ministry. Pastor Tim Ameen and his staff are leading this church to impact lostness in Clinton and around the world. Tim and I met for the first time Sunday. As we talked we discovered that our wives were not only from the same city in Virginia, but from in the same church! How cool is that! I am writing this article from Caraway Conference Center where the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina’s Board of Directors met for their last meeting of 2016. Watch for a report of this meeting in the Biblical Recorder and on BRnow.org. Finally, please remember that October is Pastor Appreciation Month.
