K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Is your church website ready? Did you read the story about the way Google changed search functions, and how this could impact your church website? The Biblical Recorder upgraded our website more than 18 months ago with the technology Google is requiring. But most church websites are not ready for this algorithm adjustment. If you are serious about using your church website to reach your community and to minister to your congregation, you need to read this article. Since we’re on the subject of church websites, allow me to ask you a few questions. If I visit your church website, can I find what I am looking for? Can I learn about the pastor and staff or do I just get their name and email? Is your church address on the front page? Can I tell if your church has any connections with Southern Baptists and North Carolina Baptists? Is the site attractive and easy to navigate? Is the information current or am I looking at a graphic that advertises the Christmas cantata? I visit some very bad church websites every day. Most of them are suffering from a case of terminal neglect. If you are serious about running an effective website that glorifies God, get some help. Ask someone to evaluate your site. Did you know that the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina can help you? Click here to learn how they can help. News of a second strong earthquake in Nepal this week means the ministry of relief workers has been complicated and made more challenging. More than 8,000 died in the first quake 17 days earlier. This is very bad news. But, Southern Baptists, supported by your Cooperative Program gifts, are on the ground in Nepal. They are meeting the temporal needs of the people and sharing the eternal good news of God’s provision for their greatest needs. You can make a great impact by giving to Baptist Global Response (BGR) online. This is one of your SBC ministries! Click here to support BGR's work in Nepal. |
