K. Allan Blume BR Editor | God knows the future Happy New Year! Have you ever entered a new year wishing you could know what will happen throughout the year? We know it doesn't work that way. God designed the world to operate under the limitations of time. That means we can know what has happened in the past and we can experience the present, but we cannot know the future. We can – and should – make plans for the coming days and years. However, we know that God reigns and His purpose will be completed. Proverbs 19:21 (ESV) says, “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Our confidence in God’s purpose is supported by the truth of scripture. We are encouraged as we read His design in Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV), “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” God has a plan for you and me in 2019. We trust His character and rest in His nature. Thank you for allowing the Biblical Recorder to serve you in 2019. Have a great year! People need to know!
