K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Freedom under attack I am deeply concerned about the attacks on freedom in our country. It is not simply an erosion of freedom that we are experiencing, but a direct assault on liberties established by God and guaranteed by our nation’s founding documents. The right to life has been under direct attack for over 40 years. A man-centered worldview promotes convenience and preference over the value of an innocent life. The child is never given the freedom to choose. What an evil tragedy! The freedom to speak one’s faith convictions has been limited or halted in schools, on university campuses, in the public square, in the military and even in the pulpit. Christians are specifically targeted by secularists – many of whom label themselves as Christians – with the imposition of every possible limitation. This is an unimaginable theft of liberties. I briefly shared some of my concerns in this week’s editorial. I hope you will read it in preparation for your celebration of our nation’s Independence Day. We can be encouraged that organizations like the Christian Action League are on the front lines of legislative battles in our state. I hope you will read their story and stand with them. Battles in the political arena are necessary, but they will not bring the ultimate victory alone. Therefore, Sunday, June 30, 2013, has been set by the Family Research Council as a day for Christians in America to fall on our faces and humbly pray for revival in our nation. (See www.Call2Fall.com) Let's hope the Sunday before Independence Day will be a day that believers will seek God for revival and spiritual awakening! Email me: [email protected] |
