Preparing for Baltimore
We’re gearing up for the SBC annual convention in Baltimore, Md., June 9-11. Everything you need to plan your schedule and keep up with the events can be found in one simple app for your smart phone. Read this story to learn the many features of the app and how to download yours now. If you have used the SBC app in the last two years, you will be pleased to know that you can delete those old apps because the new one covers all three years!
One of the discussions in the halls of the convention will be the report from a Task Force that originated with Al Gilbert in NAMB’s evangelism department. It is not a lengthy report, but it expresses concerns about our declining baptisms and identifies some basic needs in the SBC. We anticipate that some leaders will speak to the work of this Task Force in Baltimore. The report has been billed as a "pastors’ report to pastors." Most of the group are pastors and they are passionate about engaging the pastors of the SBC with their concerns. After you read the report, feel free to add your thoughts in the "comments" section at the bottom of the article. I will share your comments with Al Gilbert.
We are posting many other stories about Baltimore 2014 on the Biblical Recorder’s website. I believe you will find them helpful whether or not you attend the meetings.
As always, some important moral and cultural issues are in the news this week. Read the story about the Massachusetts court ruling on the pledge of allegiance and the news about HGTV’s cancellation of a program because the stars of the show expressed their Christian convictions.
