![]() ![]() Seth Brown Executive Editor | Encouraging reports from the BSC board Yesterday afternoon I returned home from a meeting of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina's board of directors at Caraway Conference Center near Asheboro, N.C. It was an encouraging two-day event filled with encouraging reports of how N.C. Baptist ministries are touching this state and beyond with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The board took action on bylaw changes that would help establish policies and procedures for dealing with cases of moral failure among board members and convention officers. Board members elected Melanie Wallace of Hephzibah Baptist Church in Wendell as president. She is the first woman to be elected to the position since 1993. Matt Capps, pastor of Fairview Baptist Church in Apex, was elected vice president. Kathy Bennett was re-elected as secretary. A 2020 Cooperative Program budget of $30.5M was approved by the board for consideration from messengers at the state convention's annual meeting in November. (Have you made plans to attend the annual meeting? Don't miss it.) While you are waiting on the full story from the board meeting, be sure to visit our Twitter account for more details and pictures.
