Associated Baptist Press announced today (March 3) that it

was suspending its “Comments” feature at its website.

In a statement on its site, David Wilkinson, ABP’s executive

director, said the change was temporary.

The decision was based on “consistent abuse of the

privilege,” Wilkinson said.

He said the news service would continue to look for

ways to improve its system.

ABP and New Voice Media partner sites are in the process of

developing upgrades to their sites. Part of that will include an “improved

registration process for online discussion that will eliminate participation by

anonymous persons,” Wilkinson stated.

The Biblical Recorder also suspended its comment section in

January. The BR’s Board of Directors felt it was a necessary step while

searching for the next editor/president. The BR is operating with an even

smaller staff and did not have the capability to monitor comments that

sometimes went too far.

(SPECIAL NOTE — Thank you for your continued support of the Biblical

Recorder site. During this interim period while we are searching for a new

Editor/President the comments section will be temporarily discontinued. Thank

you for your understanding and patience in this. If you do have comments or

issues with items we run, please contact [email protected]

or call 919-847-2127.)
