K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Culture bullies on the moveTwo governors are under pressure this week. One caved to culture bullies; the other has not. The governor of Georgia vetoed a bill that guaranteed religious liberty that the people of Georgia have practiced for more than 200 years. He did so under the pressure of Disney, Apple, Coca-Cola and other corporate giants who have no moral compass and should not be dictating moral code. If I remember correctly, Chick-fil-A's CEO, Dan Cathy, was accused by the left of the same crime – injecting his morals in business. Let me get this straight, Cathy’s morals are unacceptable, but Disney and Coke’s are acceptable. I think I smell a double standard here, and it smells worse than a sewer. North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory signed HB2 into law last week after it passed the House by a 83-25 vote and the Senate by 32-0. Immediately the radical left released their vicious intolerance on the governor. The same forces came against McCrory by means of big business, including the NBA. What is so bad about the bill? It simply states two things. First, it says private schools, restaurants, stores and businesses are free to establish whatever bathroom policies they choose, but access to government bathrooms will be determined by biological sex. Second, it says North Carolina will have one set of regulations for the entire state when it comes to employment and public accommodation, rather than additional regulations that change from city to city. If you care about religious liberty and moral standards, you need to let the governor know you appreciate his courage to do what is right. Contact his office today. My friend Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League, shared these comments with me March 29: "Governor McCrory and the N.C. General Assembly showed incredible courage passing common-sense legislation (HB 2) that overturned Charlotte’s egregious bathroom ordinance. Now women and children will not be vulnerable to sexual predators, and people of faith can operate their businesses and churches according to the dictates of their faith. But the Governor and these lawmakers are now enduring a firestorm from big corporations, Hollywood, and major sports organizations allied with the LGBT agenda, threatening to take business out of the state. A leftist media is actively engaged in a mammoth misinformation campaign. You can help them stand strong by contacting your lawmaker, as well as the Governor’s office, to show your support." Creech wants you to know that candlelight prayer vigils and a large rally in Raleigh are being planned. Watch for more details at christianactionleague.org and keepncsafe.org.
