K. Allan Blume BR Editor | TenTwo Next Wednesday is an important day of prayer. Kevin Ezell, president of our North American Mission Board, and his staff have asked fellow Baptists to reserve next Wednesday, Oct. 2 as a day of prayer for reaching the lost. Actually, the theme is broader than one day. Based on Luke 10:2, the TenTwo focus calls us to prayer for penetrating lostness in North America. Jesus said, "The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest" (Luke 10:2, HCSB). If you have not visited NAMB’s TenTwo site, check out the great resources they provide. Let’s pray together for a great movement of God’s Spirit in our own hearts, our churches, our state and our nation. On Monday we coordinated with Baptist Press to announce that Shawn Hendricks, the managing editor of the Biblical Recorder, has accepted the position of managing editor of Baptist Press. I am thankful for Shawn and his family. He as been serving with us for almost two years. These have been two very important years for us and for him. God has used Shawn to strengthen our work and to keep N.C. Baptists informed. We will miss him very much, but we anticipate that he will bless the broader family of Southern Baptists in his new responsibility. I’m excited about the "first ever" video the Recorder has produced and posted on BRnow.org. I hope the BSC presidential candidates forum will help you get to know the two good men running for the office of BSC president. Watch it any time beginning Friday morning, Sept. 27. Read some of the candidates’ views in the story published in this week’s print edition and on the website. Please continue to give generously to the N.C. Missions Offering this month. This offering is very important to our Kingdom witness in North Carolina! Email me: [email protected] |
