K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Let the children live Forty-two years ago the Supreme Court of the United States handed down a ruling that initiated a legal holocaust. Since that time an estimated 57 million children have been denied the right to live. Not among that number are children whose mothers were advised to abort their child, but they chose to give their baby life. Those children include Andrea Bocelli, Tim Tebow and Celine Dion. Wow! I am glad we have these and many other gifted people living with us today. Give thanks to God for the pregnancy centers that rescue these valuable children every day. I look forward to the day when moral order is reestablished in the courts and American judges ask, "What were those people thinking in 1973, and why did Americans tolerate such injustice for so long?" This week’s Biblical Recorder tells the story of Kelly and Lindsey Bullard who chose to adopt one of these beautiful lives. Read this and be blessed! Also, read the statements some North Carolina pastors have shared about the sanctity of life. Check out this valuable Sanctity of Life resource page that is available on BRnow.org. Matt Chewning is one example of a myriad of church planters who are doing an outstanding work. I visited Netcast Church in Boston where Chewning serves as lead pastor. I plead with you to read his story in this week's Recorder and consider becoming a partner with Netcast and other Southern Baptist church plants. Contact me. I will be glad to share how you can connect with them. In the past two weekends I have enjoyed the privilege of preaching at Beach Road Baptist in Southport, Dublin First Baptist in Dublin, Mintz Baptist in Roseboro and First Baptist in Cary. I am encouraged to see God’s hand working in each one and thankful for the pastors who lead these fellowships. Welcome to the new BRweekly readers in these churches! Have you reserved Feb. 23 for the 'One Story’ conference? Learn how to grow in disciple-making. |
