Honor to whom honor...
Believers can do many things, but must do one thing well: follow scripture. That is an arena where we must excel. Romans 13:7 gives a series of short, but important commands. The text says, “Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.” The death of an honorable president of the United States presents one of those moments to practice this scripture.
President Trump has declared Wednesday, Dec. 5, a national day of mourning to honor former president George H. W. Bush. The observance includes the closure of the federal government, financial markets and many banks. As you remember this man who held this high office, pray for his family, pray for the nation he led and pray for those who lead us now. Read this story about President Bush's connection with Southern Baptists.
We apologize if you visited BRnow.org and found our website inaccessible recently. Two separate factors are at play in malfunctions on BRnow.org. First, we are making improvements to the “back side” of our software that will provide greater efficiency and allow future development options to the site. Those improvements required frequent reboots of the website, preventing you from reaching us occasionally.
Second, the site has failed several times due to attacks from international hackers that forced shutdowns. Those are not matters that can be predicted even though measures are in place to limit malicious attacks. Please be patient. Please let us know via email when you encounter problems on BRnow.org. Thank you for your patience!
Please note: the print edition of the Biblical Recorder will not publish the week of Christmas and the BRweekly will not publish December 26. This allows our staff the privilege of enjoying treasured time with our families. Thank you for allowing us to serve on your team.
