Column: A life changed on a college campus
K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Life after a nasty election I am writing this article on Tuesday evening before the election results are in. I don’t know who won at this point. But, I know that life goes on – even after a very nasty national election. So I’m going to move on after I take a few minutes to give thanks that the longest, ugliest presidential election in American history has come to an end. I am practicing great restraint to say nothing more about this strange political battle at the moment. The church must march on. We must pray with a desperation and passion like we have never known. Nothing less than total, unreserved faithfulness to our Father and His Word is necessary in order to be victorious over the evil that appears to prevail around us. We are victorious because Jesus is our victorious Lord. In 1 Cor. 15:57, Paul wrote, "But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." A major expression of the teamwork that North Carolina Baptists demonstrate is found in the annual gathering of our churches. That meeting is only a few days away. I hope to see you in Greensboro at the Pastors’ Conference beginning this Sunday night and at the annual meeting of the convention beginning Monday night. Both events – and many related gatherings – are loaded with powerful preachers, great worship and strong encouragement. Don’t miss it! The Biblical Recorder has some great prizes to give away at the convention next week. Check our website and Facebook page to learn how you can win!
