K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Celebrate Thanksgiving and Advent Last week’s annual meeting of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSC) was an outstanding gathering of church leaders from across the 53,819 square miles that make up our great state. We did what we enjoy most – fellowshipping, networking, worshiping, growing, planning, learning, eating and just enjoying our places in the body of Christ. Your Biblical Recorder staff, in partnership with the BSC Communications Team, has been rolling out many articles about the meeting and related events. More are coming in next week’s print edition of the Biblical Recorder and on BRnow.org. Thanksgiving is foremost on our minds at the moment. I hope you enjoy this holiday weekend with family and friends. But, please don’t overlook the Thanksgiving offering for the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina. Every gift is a significant investment in the lives of children for eternity. The need is always great, but the recent damage from hurricane Matthew makes the need even greater. The celebration of Advent begins this Sunday, November 27. Being intentional about your spiritual growth during the season of Advent will enhance the richness of your Christmas celebration. If you’ve never observed Advent, I encourage you to try it. We’ve provided an explanation of Advent along with some specific steps you can take through this season at BRnow.org/Advent. Worship the newborn King! Thank you for supporting the Biblical Recorder through your church group subscription plan. Everyone wins! Through your group plan, you save money, you get vital news and information to your key leaders and your increase giving to missions. Have a blessed Thanksgiving celebration!
