K. Allan Blume BR Editor | What is diaspora missions and why should we care?It is a glaring fact: the nations have come to us. Millions of people from all over the world now call the United States their new home. This important fact of missions is the focus of this week’s headline story by Seth Brown, "Reaching the scattered nations." If you want a front row seat in the world of missions, you need to understand what "diaspora missions" is all about. As you read this story, ask the Father if He has planted some of these people in your neighborhood. It might prompt you to get out of that front row seat and walk into scenes reminiscent of the book of Acts. Last month we published the first part of this story about diaspora missions and introduced you to a significant conference in Brentwood, Tenn. Read that story here. Get your church’s mission team plugged into this learning experience. It will be a 24-hour investment that could be a game-changer for your ministry. I am writing this article from Caraway Conference Center where the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina’s board of directors is holding their second meeting of the year. We’ll be sharing some important news with you about proposed changes in the way the board does their work. The purpose of the changes is to align the board structure with the convention’s strategy, "Impacting lostness through disciple making." Watch for more news! Also, the Recorder staff found six North Carolina Baptists who are running for the U.S. Congress. We are reporting this information to you because another voting day is coming soon. Maybe you thought you voted for all of the candidates on March 15. Think again! Learn about the candidates in your district and prepare yourself to vote on June 7. Thank you for your support of the Biblical Recorder. |
