The next issue of the Biblical Recorder's print edition (July 27) will feature a center spread dedicated to information about the yearly gathering, along with other news in N.C. Baptist life. Be sure to note special items on the agenda, including a special message on evangelism by Ronnie Floyd, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's (SBC) Executive Committee. The current BSC first and second vice presidents announced recently that they will be nominated for another term. You can learn more about the candidates, Micheal Pardue and Matthew Lebetter, at BRnow.org. The N.C. Baptist Pastors’ Conference (NCPC) is slated to focus on unity among Christians. NCPC president Chip Hannah said the theme “One” is rooted in Ephesians 4:4 – “There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call.” Clay Smith, president of the BSC board of directors, was announced on Sunday as a candidate to succeed former SBC president Bryant Wright as pastor of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga. Smith is currently pastor of First Baptist Church in Matthews, N.C. He is scheduled to preach in view of a call at Johnson Ferry on Aug. 4.
