K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Prayer is the work I really enjoy getting to be in many churches across our state. It’s one of the best parts of my job as the editor of your Biblical Recorder. Sunday I preached in the two morning services at Millers Creek Baptist Church near Wilkesboro. Pastor Shannon Critcher and I "go way back," as we say. In 1989 when he and Clint Pressley were interns at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, I served as the church’s executive pastor. Now Pressley is the senior pastor at Hickory Grove and Critcher is the senior pastor at Millers Creek. It’s exciting to see how God works to prepare His servants for long-term ministry in His church. (As a side note, I should add that Critcher’s home church is Mount Vernon in Boone, where I pastored for more than 16 years.) Millers Creek is a church that is strong in supporting missions through involvement, special offerings and through the Cooperative Program. Now, they are strong supporters of the Biblical Recorder, also. Many of their members were already faithful BR readers, but now we welcome dozens more to the BRweekly family! Controversy over HB2 has really been stirred up in recent weeks. This week’s print issue of the Recorder has several stories about the opposition from athletic organizations and responses from Christian leaders. And the website also has a lot of material on the subject. My editorial this week also jumps into the fray with quotes from some of these leaders. Thank you for allowing the Biblical Recorder to be the trusted news source for your whole church family. People need to know! |
