K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Happy Valentine's Day Most of our BRweekly readers will open this email on the day we sent it out – Valentine’s Day. This is not an overtly Christian holiday, but it does carry a major component of our faith, and we certainly don’t have any problem letting others know we love them – especially our wife, husband, children and others close to us. The highest element of the Valentine message is found in these words of Jesus, "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends." John 15:12-13 (NKJV). I hope you enjoy a special time today – and every day – with those you love! The obvious "big news" this week is Monday’s announcement that David Platt asked our International Mission Board (IMB) trustees to begin looking for a new president. Platt plans to continue serving as IMB’s president until a successor is found. He was elected three-and-a-half years ago and has implemented sweeping changes in personnel, structure and finances. Pray for Platt and our international missions personnel through this period of transition. Pray for the trustees as they seek God’s clear direction for the next president of IMB. On our website, BRnow.org, you will see two tabs in the right column: "Best Blogs" and "Most Read News." Our Best Blogs are typically changed three times each week. The Most Read News is an accurate list of the top 10 most read posts on BRnow.org over the past 15 days. Normally it takes days, even weeks, for an item to climb to the top. But the story about David Platt jumped to the top in less than 24 hours with more than 10,000 views. That’s impressive. People WANT to know! It is always a privilege to preach in pulpits across our great state. Since the beginning of the year, I have been honored to preach for Bartley Wooten at Beulaville Baptist church, at First Baptist Church of Shallotte for Bob Weathers and several times at First Baptist Church in Cary as the church searches for a pastor. I’m looking forward to preaching in other churches in the weeks to come. Thank you for trusting the Biblical Recorder as your source for news and information with a biblical worldview.
