K. Allan Blume BR Editor | BR headlines tell this week's news Starting with the front page of this week’s Biblical Recorder, you will read some interesting stories about North Carolina Baptist Men’s annual mission conference at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. As you would expect, the weekend was packed with stories of God’s hand in mission work and in the personal lives of men and women who obeyed God. Read Dianna Cagle’s report here. Another story the begins on the front page is about a young pastor in Boston, Mass. who accepted an offer from television producers to create a reality TV show about real Christianity. The show is called #PREACHED. You may not do ministry the way former North Carolina resident Pastor Matt Chewning does it, and you may disagree with something he says. But he is effectively connecting with unchurched millennials and sharing the gospel in New England and beyond. You can read his story here. This Sunday, April 9, is Cooperative Program Sunday. We recognize that it takes dollars to train pastors and missionaries in seminary. It takes dollars to revitalize declining churches and plant new mission churches. International missionaries cannot take the gospel around the world without financial support. CP dollars make all of these gospel projects possible. I'm thankful for the team spirit that CP creates as we serve our God together. Finally, take a minute to read my editorial about the Pence-Graham rule. We’ve known it as the "Billy Graham rule," but last week Vice President Mike Pence got a lot of media attention for his personal standards to guard the integrity of his marriage. Many have written better articles and blogs on the subject, but I wanted to share my thoughts on the matter, also. Read the editorial here. Have a great day of worship this Palm Sunday! |
