K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Are movies getting biblical? Hollywood is catching on. Movies with biblical themes are profitable. In a few days the movie, "Son of God," will hit the theaters. Soon thereafter, "Noah" will be released. It is unrealistic to expect the entertainment industry to produce biblically accurate and theologically sound movies. Their focus is drama, entertainment and profit. But LifeWay Resources and Rick Warren believe there is enough biblical content in the "Son of God" movie to draw viewers into a Bible study. They have produced materials that can be used to point unbelievers to the truth of scriptures. Read that story on BRnow.org and consider using the materials. Also, read how pastors are renting whole theaters to bring friends to the movie. Several stories are rolling out this week about judicial activism to redefine marriage. Watch these rulings carefully. They are shaping the way our culture looks at marriage, and the result is not a biblical standard. Read one of those stories here. Also read how your ERLC is joining the battle for marriage. We are only a few days away from the annual Evangelism Conference. This year’s theme confronts a matter that pastors and church leaders struggle to address. How does the church effectively make disciples who multiply? This is life changing. Make this day a priority. I hope to see you Monday, February 24 at Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh. Read more about this event here. I pray that you and your church family will be powerfully effective as you reach the lost and make disciples who will impact lostness in our neighborhoods.
