K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Let freedom ring! This Sunday is Religious Liberty and Citizenship Sunday. Many churches will use the day to challenge believers toward Christ-honoring citizenship. It is a day to freely worship God in a country that was founded on religious liberties. Pastors are free to stand in the pulpit and preach without fear of intimidation from the government. We should celebrate this! Biblical truth gave birth to the freedoms that allow people of all religions to worship as they please. Even those who do not honor the Bible are able to enjoy the benefits of scriptural principles. No other nation has ever provided its citizens the liberties we enjoy. Let’s vigorously guard them. The Biblical Recorder has provided a special page on BRnow.org to help your church celebrate our liberties. Other organizations are calling attention to the day, also. The Family Research Council is calling for a movement of prayer on June 29. Join them here on this website. (Thanks, Titus Caraway, for sending your friends a notice about this call to prayer.) Final call for N.C. authors! If you are a published author (2012-2014) who is a member of a N.C. Baptist church, this is the last week to submit information about your book to the Biblical Recorder. Read this page to see if you qualify. Follow the guidelines for submitting information for the July 19 edition of the Biblical Recorder. All information is due by July 1. I hope the stories in this week’s Biblical Recorder and at BRnow.org will encourage you to walk in God’s perfect will. Subscribe to the print edition or the digital edition (or both). The digital edition is a full replica of the print edition. Subscribe today so you will not miss anything! People need to know! |
