K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Annual meeting is significant I want to use this space to focus on our annual gathering of North Carolina Baptists. This Sunday, Monday and Tuesday we will gather in Greensboro for the Pastors’ Conference and the annual meeting for the Baptist State Convention of N.C. This very exciting time should not be brushed aside. We really need this time together. The annual meeting is important for many reasons. Here are a few. 1. We are stewards of the resources that flow into our churches and are invested in global missions. The dollars we share through the Cooperative Program (CP) are approved in the annual meeting. We need to participate in the process of moving CP dollars through every stage of ministry. 2. We need to know as much as possible about Baptist ministry in North Carolina. One of the best ways to learn what God is doing is to attend the annual meeting. 3. Many resources are available at the annual meeting. Ministry leaders and retailers in the exhibit halls are valuable partners for your ministry. The breakout sessions on Tuesday afternoon are very helpful sources of free information and encouragement. You'll learn a lot in the reports, sermons and business sessions. 4. The fellowship is immeasurable. Ministry is about people. The connections and networking that happens in the halls, around coffee and over meals will last a lifetime. We really need this! As always, the Biblical Recorder has printed a special edition for the meeting. Copies are available at the Pastors’ Conference and throughout the annual meeting. Page 4 outlines the schedule. Page 7 has a map of the exhibit area to help you locate the displays. Breakout sessions are described on page 8. The Nominating Committee report is on page 16. Resolutions, bylaw amendments, guidelines for conducting business and much more are included in this edition. Please be in the session on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. for the Biblical Recorder’s special report. And come to the Recorder’s booth to register for some outstanding prizes. You could be a winner! People need to know! |
