K. Allan Blume BR Editor | Baptist Heritage Awards honorees recognized Each year the North Carolina Baptist Foundation hosts the Heritage Awards Banquet in conjunction with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSC). This event allows Baptist entities and related organizations a formal opportunity to honor men and women that have made a significant impact on their ministries through sacrificial service and generosity. The 2017 event was held April 25 at Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro. The Biblical Recorder honored Gerald "Jerry" Stephens for his service and support of our ministry. He served on our board for the past fours years and was president of the board last year. I appreciate his willingness to give us four years of his business experience, church experience and godly wisdom. BSC recognized Richard "Rick" Holbrook as their honoree. Holbrook is retiring next month as Camp Caswell’s executive director. A complete list of all Heritage Award honorees will be published in the next edition of the Biblical Recorder. These men and women are like many other unsung heroes in Baptist life that do not seek recognition. They faithfully serve our Lord for His glory. I’m glad we were able to gather in a formal setting and say "Thank you for your servant’s spirit and generous heart." Heads up! Did you know this week is designated as Administrative Professionals Week? Some reserve the last Wednesday in April as a specific Administrative Professionals’ Day. The day has customarily been a time to honor secretaries, receptionists, office assistants, administrative assistants or whatever you call the administrative professionals who keep your office humming. Take time to say "Thank you" to each of these valuable people this week. This week a lot of news is rolling out about the annual meeting of Southern Baptists in Phoenix. Use the Biblical Recorder to review the events if you plan to attend. If you are not able to go this year, let us keep you informed on all of the news related to this important convention. Thank you for allowing us to serve you. |
