Cultural battles continue
Cultural conflicts are large news items again this week. The BIG item is the Hobby Lobby lawsuit’s arrival on the floor of the U.S. Supreme Court. Tuesday’s arguments launched what could be the most definitive decision relating to religious liberty in American history. We can watch, but we can also pray.
As you watch the legal arguments unfold in court and the twisted hype displayed in the media, don’t forget that believers have access to the power that changes the course of history – prayer. Pray for those who argue the merits of religious liberty. Pray that the justices of the court will practice justice according to God’s measure. This is an important week of prayer!
Another strange twist in the secular push to normalize homosexuality is the announcement from World Vision that they will now extend hiring to legally married gay couples. This is a tragic mistake, and I believe the hunger relief organization will see severe reactions from its base.
As always, the Biblical Recorder and BRnow.org is supplying news, information and inspiration you need. Don’t miss this week’s story marking the 10th anniversary of the deaths of International Mission Board missionaries Larry and Jean Elliot. These North Carolinians were recently honored in several churches. Also, our sports writer, Roman Gabriel III, has a very interesting piece on the most popular woman in the world of ice hockey. What a testimony!
