Focal Passage: Psalm 99:1-9
This has been a weird year. There has been a lot going on in our lives that look a lot different than they did at this time last year. I feel we sometimes lose focus of things that are important. In a normal year, Thanksgiving is often overlooked, sandwiched between Halloween and Christmas. I am sure this year is no different, but with a little more added distractions. My prayer is that as we will take a pause for a moment and realize that we have been called to be committed to His worship.
We praise God for His holiness and great power.
Psalm 99:1 says; “The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble.” He is sitting in the throne in heaven. God is in complete control of everything. As a result, we should praise Him. He is over all the people. When you sit back and think about that, how mind blowing is it to think God is over every human being that was, is or will ever be? He has power like no other and is worthy of our worship.
We praise God for His justice, and righteousness. When we turn our attention to vv. 4-5, we see God has established equity, that He has executed justice. Because of this we are called to exalt Him. We are called to praise Him. How often can we attribute these qualities to our leaders today?
Yet we see God is all of these and more.
We praise God for His answers. In the Bible we see many examples of people calling out to God and He answers them. God listens to His people and answers them. He is worthy of praise.
