Nathan Brooks, lead pastor of Glorieta Baptist Church in Concord, will be nominated for vice president of the 2027 N.C. Baptist Pastors’ Conference.
Jonathan Blaylock, pastor of North Albemarle Baptist Church in Albemarle, plans to make the nomination during this year’s conference, which is scheduled for Nov. 9-10 at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center in Greensboro. Blaylock shared his intent to nominate Brooks with the Biblical Recorder via email.
“Nathan is a pastor’s pastor, one that other pastors want to spend time near,” Blaylock said in written remarks. “He’s the guy that I want to learn from, that I seek counsel from. He faithfully serves our convention of churches in various capacities. I am both challenged and encouraged every time I am around him. He is such a blessing to the pastors that already know him, and I’m convinced that more NC Baptist pastors need to be blessed by him. He loves NC Baptists and NC Baptist pastors and I believe he will work diligently with the president to provide the conference that we need in 2027.”
Brooks has pastored Glorieta Baptist Church since 2015. Previously, he served as director of children’s ministry at Green Level Baptist Church in Cary from 2012-2015 and as youth/children’s director at Glorieta Baptist Church from 2009-2011.
Additionally, Brooks serves in a variety of leadership roles at the local, state and national levels. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and Fruitland Baptist Bible College. During this year’s Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting, Brooks served as a member of the registration committee, which supervises messenger registration for the meeting.
Brooks is also a directional leader for Blueprint, a ministry that seeks to prepare and equip aspiring pastors through the Cabarrus Baptist Association. He also serves on the board for MissionBuilt, a ministry based in Concord that serves church plants and churches going through a revitalization process by helping with facility repairs and maintenance needs. Brooks also participates in the Healthy Church Collective, a monthly fellowship of pastors in the Greater Charlotte area.
If elected, Brooks said he would seek to serve and encourage the conference president while also helping plan and promote the event.
“If elected, my main desire would be to serve as an encourager to the Pastor’s Conference President,” Brooks said in a written statement to the Biblical Recorder. “I have friends who’ve served in conference leadership roles, and I’ve seen the immense amount of prayer, planning, and effort it takes to create a conference that truly strengthens the hearts of pastors. I would consider it a privilege to support the president—praying regularly for him, his family, and his church.
“Alongside that, I would work diligently to promote the Pastor’s Conference. Through my regular pastoral networking, I’m reminded again and again that every pastor—regardless of church size or context—needs encouragement. Year after year, I’ve experienced firsthand the encouragement that the Pastor’s Conference provides. And I’m eager to help connect more pastors to that blessing in any way I can.”
Brooks holds a master of divinity in pastoral ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree in music from Pfeiffer University.
Brooks and his wife, Katie, have been married for 15 years and have four children.
Brooks is the first announced candidate for the 2027 N.C. Baptist Pastors’ Conference vice president. Brandon Mullis, pastor of Clear Creek Baptist Church in Charlotte, will be nominated for 2027 pastors’ conference president.
Elections for pastors’ conference leadership positions are typically held two years in advance to allow adequate time for planning and securing speakers for the event.
