Brandon Mullis, pastor of Clear Creek Baptist Church in Charlotte, will be nominated for president of the 2027 N.C. Baptist Pastors’ Conference during this year’s event.
Chris Griggs, lead pastor of First Baptist Church of Welcome, plans to make the nomination at this year’s conference, which is scheduled for Nov. 9-10 at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center in Greensboro. The pastors’ conference is being held prior to the annual meeting of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.
“Brandon is a great leader who has pastoral vision for his church,” Griggs told the Biblical Recorder (BR). “He has a genuine heart for healthy local churches and pastoral relationships. He wants to put together a conference that will encourage pastors. I’m honored to nominate him.”
Mullis is currently serving as vice president of the 2026 pastors’ conference after being elected last year. If elected president for the 2027 conference, Mullis said he would seek to “serve, support, and encourage my fellow pastors” in the role.
“I believe that one of the greatest needs in our day is a renewed focus on healthy churches, and the only way we will see biblically healthy churches is when pastors themselves are encouraged, heard, and supported,” Mullis said in written remarks to the BR.
While serving as a pastor is an honor, it is not without challenges. Pastors need to be reminded that they are not alone in ministry, Mullis said.
“I believe that while ministry can be difficult, we have an unshakable hope: the promises of God are true, His love never fails, and His mercies are new every morning,” Mullis said. “My desire is to help foster a conference that strengthens pastors with these reminders, so that together we can persevere with joy and faithfulness in the calling Christ has given us.”
A native of Indian Trail, N.C., Mullis has pastored Clear Creek Baptist Church for four years. Prior to becoming Clear Creek’s pastor in June 2021, Mullis served as a student pastor at three other churches in North Carolina.
Mullis holds a master’s degree in church revitalization from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Mullis also serves on the N.C. Baptist board of directors and is active in the Metrolina Baptist Association.
Mullis and his wife, Cassidy, have been married for 14 years, and they have three children.
Mullis is the first announced candidate for president of the 2027 N.C. Baptist Pastors’ Conference.
Elections for pastors’ conference leadership positions are typically held two years in advance to allow adequate time for planning and securing speakers for the event.
